چکیده

Green computing is a central theme in many computer science areas, including networks. Dynamic solutions that can properly adjust network resources prevent infrastructure over-provision and mitigate power consumption during low-demand periods. In this work, we propose DTM (Dynamic mechanism for Traffic Management), an energy-aware dynamic traffic management, built upon the SDN paradigm. continuously monitors use of links to concentrate disconnect idle equipment without degrading offered quality service. Our simulations show save up 46% energy, on average, links’ capacities homogeneous heterogeneous scenarios. scenarios with average high demands, mean energy savings are 36.72% 17.86%, respectively. Compared well-known existing mechanism, our approach 7% better medium-demand scenarios, approximately 4% high-demand

Demand Engineering: An new approach to SDN-based traffic management for IP and MPLS networks

Traffic engineering has been used in IP / MPLS networks for a number of years as a tool for making more efficient use of capacity by explicitly routing traffic demands where there is available network capacity that would otherwise be unused. Deployment of traffic engineering imposes an additional layer of complexity to network design and operations, however, which has constrained its adoption f...

Socially-Aware Traffic Management

Socially-aware traffic management exploits social signals to optimize traffic management in the Internet in terms of traffic load, energy consumption, or end-user satisfaction. Several use cases can benefit from socially-aware traffic management and the performance of overlay applications can be enhanced. In the talk we show interdisciplinary efforts between communication networks and social ne...

Flow Aware Traffic Management

When the TCP and IP protocols were first proposed the emphasis was on a simple best-effort service. Later on TCP was modified in order to address the issue of congestion control, that is to make sure that the senders would not overwhelm the network by sending data too fast. Over the years these protocols have shown an excellent scalability and have allowed the Internet to grow from a network co...

Energy Aware Resource Management of Cloud Data Centers

Cloud Computing, the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Virtualization technology forms a key concept for new cloud computing architectures. The data centers are used to provide cloud services burdening a significant...
